A delegation from Isuzu Motors India, led by Mr. Takashi Kikuchi, President – Isuzu Motors India met the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. N Kiran Kumar Reddy to review the progress of the upcoming ISUZU factory in Andhra Pradesh.
This is the first automotive manufacturing facility coming up in the State of Andhra Pradesh and the Chief Minister assured of his full support in expediting the clearance and approval processes. By choosing Andhra Pradesh to setup its factory in India, ISUZU has led the way for the creation of a future automotive hub in the state. Other Automotive OEMs and component suppliers are also likely to follow Isuzu Motors, thereby creating significant employment opportunities in the southern region of Andhra Pradesh.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Takashi Kikuchi said, “We are happy with the progress of the manufacturing project, and the support received from the AP Govt. India is a very important market for Isuzu globally, and Isuzu Pickups and SUVs which were launched earlier this year in limited numbers in Coimbatore and Hyderabad have received a very positive response. We are now keen to expedite the start of operations of our manufacturing factory in Andhra Pradesh.”
The manufacturing factory is located at Sri City Special Economic Zone at Nellore District in Andhra Pradesh and is expected to begin operations by 2016 with a production capacity of 120,000.
Isuzu Motors India Private Limited is a subsidiary of Isuzu Motors Limited, Japan. Known globally for its expertise in diesel engines and for the manufacture of tough and durable vehicles, Isuzu Motors will supply the MU7 sports utility vehicle and the DMAX pickup truck in India. The company started its operations in India in 2012-13 and has set up two dealerships – Hyderabad and Coimbatore – with a dealership soon opening in Chennai. The dealer network expansion will continue with 9-10 dealerships expected to come up by end of the year.
