Recently senior members from Isuzu Motors India visited the famous Venkateshwara Temple in Tirupati to seek blessings to open its first showroom in Tirupati, which is Isuzu’s second showroom in the state of Andhra Pradesh and third showroom this year. Mr. Takashi Kikuchi, President and Managing Director, Isuzu Motors India inaugurated the dealership along with Mr. Shigeru Wakabayashi, Deputy Managing Director, Isuzu Motors India.
Located at Renigunta Road, the Tirupati showroom spans across an area of 2500 sq. ft. On the occasion, Isuzu also showcased its first India-made sports utility vehicle MU-7. Opening of Tirupati showroom is a part of Isuzu’s expansion plans under which the company had planned to open a total number of 60 outlets across India by end of 2015-16. By 20th February 2014, Isuzu will have a presence with 8 outlets across all four states in South India.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Takashi Kikuchi, President & Managing Director – Isuzu Motors India, said, “We are very happy to open our flagship showroom in Tirupati. Isuzu currently sells two vehicles in India – a sports utility vehicle MU-7 and pick-up truck D-Max. The bookings for MU-7 will start from today in Cochin. The MU-7 is priced at Rs. 22.93 lakh – BS4 variant and Rs. 22.63 lakh BS3 variant (ex-showroom Tirupati), while the pick-up truck Dmax is priced at Rs. 7.39 lakh ((ex-showroom Tirupati).
A part of Chitoor district, Tirupati is an important market for Isuzu, as the company has an upcoming manufacturing plant in Sri City, which also comes in Chitoor district. The ground breaking ceremony for which was held earlier this week. The manufacturing plant is likely to be operational by 2015-16. Keeping in mind the increasing demand for diesel cars in the country and the need for skilled manpower for diesel-engine technology, Isuzu also donated a vehicle training kit to ITI, Tirupati. The company will be conducting advanced automobile diesel engine training for ITI technical staff.

Isuzu Motors, in the next phase of its project has started the assembly of CKD units in contract manufacturing with Hindustan Motors Limited. This is an intermediate stage of the company’s project in India, before the start full fledge localized manufacturing at its own plant at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh expected by 2016.
