Isuzu Motors India Private Limited, a subsidiary of Isuzu Motors Limited, Japan recently organised the third Indo Japan Golf tournament at the Chettipalayam Golf Club in Coimbatore. A total of 118 Indian and Japanese golfers came together to play at this par-72 Golf Club on the Stableford format. It was a memorable day for everyone, especially the Indian Team who won the Isuzu Golf Trophy with a small margin over the Japanese team.
The tournament was played at the ‘Amateur level’ as a team event with the best six scores taken out of the 16 players representing each team. The tournament was co-sponsored by Cholamandalam-MS General Insurance Company.
Mr. Takashi Kikuchi, Managing Director, Isuzu Motors India Pvt Ltd, who was part of the Japanese team, said, “This was truly a memorable relationship building day for us. We are very keen to strengthen our social and cultural ties with India and sport’s is one of the best ways to develop new friendships. We thoroughly enjoyed the tournament and the camaraderie we felt with the Indian players”.
He further added Isuzu Motors is one of the oldest Japanese automobile manufacturers in Japan and started their business in India this year. India is now a key part of the global growth strategy of Isuzu Motors Japan. This tournament helped us experienced first-hand sportsmanship and hospitality of Indian managers and business men.”
Another attraction of this tournament was the Hole-in-One contest for the 7th Hole- par 3 for which a brand new Isuzu MU-7 Sports Utility Vehicle was being given out as the prize. However this year none of the players was able to bag the SUV priced at Rs. 23.20 Lakhs (Ex-showroom) in Coimabatore.
The Chettipalayam Golf Club in Coimbatore, where the tournament was held is regarded as one of the top golf courses in India. The course is encompassed by hundreds of exotic tropical trees giving the golfer a challenge as well as the pleasure to be on the course.
