Isuzu D-Max bags the ‘Pick-up of the Year‘ award

The globally renowned pick-up truck Isuzu D-Max, made its debut in the Indian market in May 2014. Alongside it has been gathering a lot of acceptance and recognition too. The award winning Isuzu D-Max has bagged the ‘Pick-up of the Year’ award from the prestigious “Apollo-CV” Awards, at an event held in Mumbai, yesterday. Mr. Takashi Kikuchi, Managing Director, and Capt. Shankar Srinivas, Head, Communications, Isuzu Motors India, received the prestigious award in the presence of key dignitaries and industry personalities in the CV sector.


Speaking at the award function, Mr. Takashi Kikuchi, Managing Director, Isuzu Motors India, said, “We at Isuzu are extremely happy to receive this award. The Isuzu D-Max has a heavy-duty chassis, a large cargo bed to “accommodate the bulkiest of loads” and its body structure is made from high-tensile steel. It sports a bold and aggressive look on the outside and sophisticated, passenger-vehicle like interiors, making it a pride for the owner.


A completely new concept in India, the new D-MAX Space Cab’s unique feature is its extended cabin space of 1.5 feet behind the drivers’ seat, which can store valuable/ fragile goods. It offers significant features like Power steering, Power windows,Centralized door lock, AC with heater etc., making it ideal for commercial use in industries like Agriculture, Retail, Dairy, Engineering, Manufacturing and Small businesses. It also boasts of superior fuel efficiency having proven itself through the D-Max “Max run Challenge” conducted in various parts of the world.


The Apollo-CV awards is a prestigious event for the commercial vehicle industry. The awards honour a gamut of performers within the Commercial Vehicle industry, spanning, Trucks, Buses, Dealers, Fleet Operators and high-performing individuals. The awards have been instituted by ‘Next-Gen Publishing’ which runs an exclusive magazine titled ‘CV’ (Commercial Vehicle). This is the 6th year of the awards. The awards were attended by the entire industry fraternity representing all major players.

This new facility is likely to commence commercial operations by early 2016, with the initial production capacity at 50,000 units/ year. Isuzu will scale up the production capacity to 120,000 units/ year, with the accumulated investment of Rs. 3,000 Crore, and is expected to generate 2000 – 3000 jobs. The company has plans to open 60 dealership outlets across the country by 2016 and aims to have 160 by 2020.


Isuzu Motors India plans to achieve 100% percent localization within three years of commencing production in 2016. It is an exemplary showcase of Isuzu’s long term commitment to the Indian market.
